| ***Updated 10/13/10. See last page for more information***
I'm new to the forum. Just introduced myself yesterday. Thanks to all who posted warm welcomes. I have a proposition for all you S. TX Jeepers. My church is having community free for all in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, October 16, 2010 . Our tentative time frame is from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The purpose of the free for all is to just come together and celebrate. Some other things that are in the works for the event include, classic cars, motorcycles, food, & live music. We also looking into having local fire and police on hand for safety demonstrations as well. I am a member of the organizing committee, specifically in charge of exhibits. I instantly thought of having a bunch of Jeeps on display. So, I am officially calling for anybody who has a rig that they want to show off to post to this thread that you would like to participate. I would love to see a great turn out by forum members in particular, but would be really happy to get any Jeeps. And, although I specifically mentioned S. TX Jeepers, I don't want to restrict it to just that crowd. If there are any Jeepers who are not from the area, but will happen to be here on that date, and want to participate, I would be glad to have you there. As part of the Jeep display I am considering some "Only in a Jeep" demonstrations too. Nothing but ideas at this point, but some of them include a flex demonstration, or maybe car from a salvage yard. I even thought of offering rides in some jeeps, although that my prove to be logistically and legally challenging. The ideas are practically endless. If you have any ideas, or are able/willing to provide some demonstration assistance/gear please post that info too. We have a planning meeting September 16 and I would love to have some confirmed attendees by then. I know this forum is the place to get it done. I would love the opportunity to have some of you come out and show of your rigs, so post up guys and gals! Thanks in advance for your posts! Hook-em Horns![center]

| Hello and welcome. Perhaps you should plan on going to Katemcy and meeting some of the members. People may be more interested in your event if they knew you a little better. Just sayin.... | |

Don't let that stop you. We are trying to put together motorcycles for the event too. We are hoping to get a wide variety of bikes from crotch rockets to choppers. Because of that, we already anticipate that we are likely to see some colorful characters there. Worst case, if your LP's are too questionable, we can remove them or cover them up. We have things we can do.

Just sayin.... That is a great idea. I was there this weekend for an RSM (routine scouting mission) with my family. We were in my wifey's expedition so there wasn't any wheelin' to be had. I spoke with Elaine Kruse at the office. I also met a couple guys from the San Antonio area, one of which pointed me to this forum. for the life of me, I cannot remember his name, Darin maybe . What I can remember is that he drove a silver JKU Rubi, was from New Braunfels, and has a welding and fabrication shop. Go figure how I can remember all those details but not his name. Anyway, I haven't gone out there wheelin' with my little stocky JKU because I don't want to embarrass myself. And for the next few weeks, my weekend schedule is kinda booked. So, I was thinkin' how about a meet & greet here in SA, maybe at Hills & Dales, or similar? I'd love to meet some of you folks. I've probably wave at many of you on my commute into work. It would be nice to put some names to the Jeeps. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers, Hook-em.

| Hook-em,
We are doing a charity event on Sept 18th in LA Vernia, if you get time come on out and join us. I will also plan a meeting or dinner or something around the last week of the month or maybe the 2nd, we could meet you then and talk about your event. We usually like doing stuff like this. We may have a install party soon as well. Call if you have questions 210-389-5630

Renee The 18th is a no go for me. When I saw your topic on the forum I looked into that right away. I Even thought about volunteering, but prior plans killed that real fast. I could do the dinner thing as well. Would those events be reserved for the Jeepers only, or are families usually involved too? Thanks! Hook-em

| Hook 'em, I might be able to go to your Church function. It just depends on when my wife plans to celebrate her birthday that weekend, or the weekend before. Her birthday falls right in between.
Good luck with your function though. Things like this works better when you already have a relationship with the rest of the club. So get involved as much as you can.
Oh, and we are a family friendly club. Bring your wife and kids to the dinner function, your kids will like it.

Oh, and we are a family friendly club. Bring your wife and kids to the dinner function, your kids will like it. Hey, thanks Dutch. Unfortunately I just learned about this gang about a week ago. I've been trying get people from another forum involved and have ad any luck at them. I'm very disappointed, actually. There is still some time to pull the event together though. Hopefully meeting all you folks will foster some progress. I just really think a bunch of sick Jeeps would draw in a bunch of people and that's what we want. The church does not make any money on the event at all, it's just a celebration event. I'm rambling now. I look forward to attending the dinner event with the fam. I will keep tabs on the forum for more information. I have a pretty crazy schedule between up coming work travel, and coaching both my daughter's volleyball teams. I'll make some time to get involved though. I really appreciate everybody taking time to at least provide feedback. I look forward to meeting you all face-to-face.

| Anybody up for a quick "meet and greet" somewhere in the San Antonio area next week? Hills & Dales is good any day but Wednesday. I know they get a huge contingent of motorcycles on Wednesdays. Maybe a burger place like Longhorn Cafe, or Bigz Burger Joint would be good too. | |

| BUMP!
We had our 3rd meeting last night. The exhibits are struggling right now. We have plans for classic cars but many of them are already obligated for other events that day. As it stands, we'll have maybe 2 cars. Our Harley contact is still thinking about it. I'm loosing confidence in the bikers altogether. As for the Jeeps, my lift and tires will be in so I'll be there for sure.
I really think a bunch of BAD A$$ Jeeps would draw in people. So, please, please help me out folks.
Thanks! | |

| Hello Hook-em
I'm Monica and my boyfriend is Paul. We are still new to the club and would like the chance to meet more of the jeep members, only draw back is the time. I get home at 6 (floresville) and by time we get ourselves together and over there you all would be leaving.

Thanks for the interest. The time is flexible. I just suggested 6 pm as a starting point really. If later, say about 7 pm, works better for people, I am all over it. Let me know what works. That goes for anybody on the forum. I'm doing this so I can meet other members too. I can't afford to go in with a firm time set and expect others to drop everything for me. I hope we can all get together on a time and meet.

Outstanding and thank you, jeepbronco! I've gotten some other commits elsewhere too. If we count my (soon to be show worthy) rig, your (let's be conservative) 3 rigs, and the 2 others, we are at 6, with a possibility of 8. It's starting to come together. I am feeling much better about the Jeep contingent today than I was a week ago. Our church is Trinity United Methodist. It is located at 6800 Wurzbach, between Babcock and Evers. And those rigs look perfect. My younger daughter will like the rescue green rig. She's only 7 and already knows that she wants one of those for her first car. Gotta love it. Thanks again for participating! I look forward to meeting you at the event. Please let me know if you need any additional information. I will be posting more information here as plans form up. Now I have to go put in my 4" lift!

As far as a Hills N Dales meet, Thursday would work for me as far as I know. Yep, thought this might happen. That is why I started a separate thread for the meet and greet. It's funny, I kinda hi-jacked my own thread by starting a discussion for the meet and greet. So, to answer your question about what we are talking about, I think as long as you delineate that you are attending the meet and greet on this thread, then you'll be understood. If you delineate that you're participating the the free for all, then you'll be understood. For what it's worth, I suppose one could always go to the thread http://www.myjeepforum.net/event-trip-planner-f15/meet-greet-hills-and-dales-t3748.htm for discussion on the meet and greet to eliminate all confusion. We look forward to seeing you Thursday at Hills and Dells at 7:00 pm. We hope to see you at the free for all on October 16th, at 4:00 pm. Thanks again everyone for your feedback and participation!
