$10.00 for fingerprints

Can someone please ask a question for me at the class. I've had my concealed carry license for 15 years now and heard at last class that if you have had more than 3 classes, you no longer have to test again, just renew. True or false.

From TX department of public safety website:

In certain circumstances, a person may be exempt from taking a renewal course. If you have been continuously licensed for three (3) renewal periods, you may contact the Concealed Handgun Licensing Bureau to see if you are exempt from attending a renewal course.

However, if you are exempt from a renewal course, the next time your license is up for renewal you would be required to take a renewal course.

The law change was designed to allow those long time license holders to only need to take the class every ten years. But it is important to remember that you are still responsible for keeping current with any changes in the law.

Way to go gang. Noticed some good patterns on the targets. Maybe we should change our logo. Replace the crossed swords with a couple of hand guns.

Holy crap!

We had some questions about "zero tolerance" and can you drink if you are not carrying? I have searched several forums and the entire 71 pages of the regulation. Here is my conclusion, please post up if you find/know something different.

You are not prohibited from drinking if you have a CHL. It is like a drivers license. You can't drink and drive, you can't drink and carry. Look at the definition of intoxication as it relates to the regulation. It does not say zero tolerance or you can't have one beer. I certainly don't recommend any alcohol use while carrying. I just wanted to clear this up. Substantial impairment is not based on a certain blood alcohol level, it is up to the discretion of the authorities so if you want to take the chance it is up to you.
