Concealed Handgun License (CHL)

Date is locked in for Jan 29th. Class is $90.00 and includes pizza and a Corona to celebrate at the end of class (BYOB for the after party)

Permit costs $140.00 and you will need to get fingerprints - usually costs $10.00.

Here are names that I know are in for 1/29/2011. If you can make it add your name.

We need 6-10 people, if we have too many we can do a class on Saturday and Sunday.

$140? Ouch!!!! The state sure loves taking their bite. What's the renewal fee? Whats the cost of the class itself? DPS will usally do the fingerprints for free. At least the one in Wilson County was free.

You might be able to get them free but the places that do it electronically charge $10.00. They send them electronically and they match up with your application. Could help reduce delays.

Yeah, the state has to get theirs. I have a non resident Utah permit and have to pay them every 5 years too.

The only reason I'm asking and I'm not trying to upset anybody, the Bullet Hole does it $70.00 and that includes fingerprints and all paper work. If she is a friend no problem I'll do it there too, I'll support anyone from the forum first.

It is best to qualify with a semi-automatic. 32 caliber or higher is required.
Closed toe shoes
Shirt that will button (ejected brass won't go down the shirt)
cap for head protection ( you will see why in the class)
safety glasses ( I have a few and the range will provide if needed)
hearing protection ( range will also provide)

To apply for license you will need to visit www.txdps.state.tx.us, then click on the link concealed handgun.

The top amount is for new license and the bottom amount is for renewals. The Fees are non-refundable.

My class is 90 dollars, this is the class, photo, and paperwork needed to send in. Finger prints will have to be done through L-1 or FAS, you will see that information when you apply on line.

You may pay vial cash or check on the day of the class. There may be a PayPal account set up to use before the class also.

I just signed up for the background check. I need to get my finger prints done, anybody know where I can get that done.

This is my check list on what I need to do.

2 fingerprint cards or fingerprints submitted using FAST <--- suggestions where to get this done?
Photo holder <--- what is a photo holder?
2 Signed Photo
CHL-100 Training Form <--- assume this is filled out by the instructor?

Go to the Sheriff's office or one of the police substations. They can do it for you. Photo holder is just a small envelope. The photo has to be passport style. The instructor should have that form.

Damn, I'll be out of town that weekend....definitely need to get it out of the way soon though.

I applied and paid on line for the license. I will get my fingerprints in January so I can mail everything on the 30th. When you apply for the license you can schedule your fingerprints.

So I just have to get my finger prints done.

Fill out application and pay. At the end you will schedule your fingerprints and print a checklist.

After the class mail the form and photo you get from the instructor and anything else on your checklist to the address provided in the checklist.

You will receive your License in the mail.

Or the police will knock on your door. Depends on how your background check goes.
