Big bend STATE park

How many votes for a camping wheeling adventure in big bend state park? I'm thinkin about cruising out there one weekend soon when it warms up some but it ain't wise to go there solo.. Anybody up for it?

I have some time off in April. When you thinking of going?

I was at Big Bend several years ago and want to go back. Will have to wait on warm weather as I don't like doors or tops.

Am definitely interested.

I would like to go. There are a lot of places around that area I would like to go to also.

Would like to go too but it would have to be sometime after March in order for me to be able to make it.

Late April - early may .. Sometime Before summer.. Maybe set a day to meet up in terilingua?

My wife and i will go we had planned on going the first week in april. We went last year and had a blast.

I am good this weekend as well. I have the week off.

I am interested in this, I'm looking to have a wheeling/camping filled year and this would be a great way to kick off the summer.

I have several books on the trails in and around Big Bend. I'll bring them to the next gathering I attend. If anyone wants them I'd be happy to donate them to who ever is going on the trip.

I'm definitely interested, looks like thats not a race weekend so unless my wife has something for me to do that I am unaware of...looks promising.

We are good towards the end of the month as well.

How long are you guys planning on staying down there? If it is on April 22nd, would you come back Sunday 24th or stay there longer?

I have always wanted to make a trip out there...the wife and I should be in provided that whatever weekend is decided that we have no plans. Hell we may change plans to go.

Ok so the weekend will be 22-24 me and Kassi will prolly head down there thursday night the 21st and prolly come back Sunday night unless I get Monday off.. Those of u that would like a scenic drive hwy 90 will take u through some very open and old country with a couple good stops like the ghost town just past del rio.. The interstate IS about 2-3 hours faster but extremely boring.. Lol unless your driving at night..
There is a nice pet friendly motel in terelingua which is where me and my lady will stay until we all rendezvous and decide what were doing and I'm up for ANYTHING camping/wheeling/sightseeing there is 1 dirt road I know of that's about 50 miles long out there that requires 4x4 and lots of camera space.. I'm excited

10 rigs so far! This weekend of the 22nd is a very good time to see big bend state AND national parks.. Last time I went I was there a week and barely had time to see MOST of just the national park..[list][*]

The ghost town is Langtry. Home of Judge Roy Bean, "Law west of The Pecos". It's actually after another small town call Comstock, which is now just old filling station. He named it after the love of his life, Lilly Langtry an actress he never met. Rumor has she visited the town shorty after he died.

I haven't been that way in long, long time! My father is from s small town north of Big Bend named Marfa. We use to travel that way ALL the time. IH 10 is faster the view SUCKS! Hard! Hwy 90 is the way to go. Watch out with the cops in Bracketteville they are bad. The drive between Bracketteville and Del Rio is a little boring, it's only 30 miles I think but that's the only spot once you pass Del Rio the landscape changes big time from south Texas mesquite to west Texas desert. That just amazes me every time. Now I'm getting excited.

Oh, man do you bring back some memories, Robert. Smack in the middle between Langtry and Sanderson is where I had my 216 acre hunting ranch. Had that place for maybe five years. Too dang far for the hit or miss outings. Hated letting it go, but that was the best alternative.

Your spot on about the po-po out there. I once got two tickets in one trip (Bracketville and Comstock). That sucked more than just a little.

I have some really good stories about that place and some of the trips. They're better left in person and not in hi-jacking a trip planning thread.

If my wife and I do go I think that would be the smartest way to go, staying in that motel on the 21st then meet up with everyone.
