It went for a test drive, it's not finished yet, Bobby still has to make the box for it, he just wanted to see how it pulled and Cody had the receiver on. It pulled great.

We might test run it to Corpus just as a flatbed, Bobby won't have time to finish it before Corpus.

Bobby is going to build the box later (after Corpus). I think he is going to make it so that he can remove the box and use the trailer as aflatbed if needed.

That trailer looks GREAT !!!

I hope to start on mine this fall when it gets a little cooler.

Questions:

1) How did you get a license plate for a home built trailer.

2) Where did you get an axle with 5 on 5 hubs.

Thanks,
Joe

We pulled it down the road today at high speed and it pulls great, you can't even tell its back there. When you hit a bump it bounces a little but after Bobby gets the box on that will give it some weight.

Joe , I went to tax office on Bandera and filled out 2 forms, 1 for a homemade trailer discribing how much the trailer weighs and how much your going to carry, and 1 with your general information. It cost $ 41 . No sending off forms and waiting, they give you the plate right then and there. I bought my axle at Southwest Trailer on Gembler Rd, which runs off Coliseum Rd right there by the SBC Center on the Eastside. Go in and tell them what size wheel you have , I recommend you take the wheel with you if you have one thats what I did. You can get an axle for a 4" or 5" wide bed. I bought the light kit there for $ 22 with 2 rear lights 2 running lights. I bought the fenders there also both for $ 45 . Everything for your trailer you can buy there and I shopped first and they are the cheapest anywhere, They have anything you want. If you have anymore questions just ask I will be glad to help. OH yeah ! I bought my steel at Ashley Salvage on Roosevelt about a mile inside loop 410 S. I priced around but everybody was about the same on steel.

For any one else attempting such a project to great sources for parts are Northern Tool and Tractor Supply. They have lights, axles, wheels, jacks, etc.......

I wrecked a trailer I borrowed from a buddy and owed him a fender and a jack. I looked online and both places had both parts CHEAP. I ended up going to Tractor Supply as it was more convienent to me. I paid about $60 for a replacement jack and fender.

The trailer looks GREAT.

Yep, its not finished yet, its one of those work on the weekend projects. Bobby wants to put a top with hinges, but will be made so that it can be removed when needed. We are bringing it to Clines so you will get to see it.
