Fall Big Bend Trip

I plan on leaving Thursday, 11/10. Ken Powers will leave 11/11. Staying at the Chisos Mining Company Motel. Any late comers are more than welcome to join us.

I'm leaving tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov 9) for Big Bend with my dad. My birthday is Thursday (the 10th), and we will be staying at the park itself Wednesday night, then at Chisos Mountains Lodge Thursday and Friday night, then head out Saturday (possibly after running some more trails).

This was all my dad's idea, really, so I'm not 100% on what we're doing, but if I understand correctly there's a normal trail area in the park itself that we'll run Thursday and then some more challenging stuff near by that we'll run Friday.

I'd love to meet up with y'all if you're down there. Are there any defined plans? You can reach me on my cell at 210-393-0311 to touch base, and we'll have CB's out there, too.

Beached Bum (Shane) is already in Big Bend. Has his motor home at Rio Grande Village. Meeting up with him @ 3pm on Thursday at Panther Junction. Please join us. Ken Powers is leaving Friday and will meet up with us at Panther Junction. Will have a full day on Saturday. Look forward to seeing you.

Also, I assume (hope) that there are fuel stations somewhere near by...right?

There are fuel stations here. one by panther junction. price is about 3.85. There is little cell phone service out here and I mean little. there is WiFi at the lodge and here in the rv park so that's my soul source of communication. There are more trails out here then you will ever be able to get to. we just finished a 26 mile 4x4 only trail. your gonna love it. if you want to meet up Thursday morning at panther junction let me know. We can run a trail in the morning before meeting up with Ray.

Ray, please give me a call at 210-393-0311 so I can get your number and we can discuss where/when I meet and what trails we'll plan on, etc. We're on the road.

Well, another Big Bend trip has ended. Shane (Beached Bum), Sarah, Sheridan, Lanny, Eric (Deacon), Ken, Bob & myself had a great time. We had hardly finished this time and were already talking about another trip. The only mishaps, Deacon's Jeep had to be left on the trailer and Beached Bum broke his gear shift. He rapidly engineered a replacement which turned out to be an illuminating experience. There is a photo of his masterful engineering.

To those of you who did not make it, maybe next time. You should not plan on going unless you want to have a good time.

Want to thank Trailmaster Shane for his experise. Also Ken showed up in his new $50K Rubicon. We now call him Escalade Ken.

Was a great trip and i made it back finally. Havent had a chance to post my pics as indicated by my post in the rants and raves section. Ill try to get to them tonight.

Ray, Shane,Lanny and Eric, I had a great time, I think my Brother in law is ready to trade in his Hummer and get a real off road vehicle. Thanks for the fun and breaking in the Escalade. New name will be KenSlade. Thanks Ray for the moniker
