I've only been there once- about 4 years ago. As I recall, there is a parking area that they recommend non-4x4's to park in. Immediately after the parking area, the sand is pretty packed due to the high amount of traffic, so lots of non-4x4's are on the beach. But you drive a mile or so after that, and the sand is not so packed. You don't see any non-4x4's in that section. And if you keep going it gets more and more like PINS, and less & less people.

Location: Crystal Beach or Matagora whatever you guys think, if Crystal is gone we can head to Matagora (sp)

Can you guys give us some names of hotels close by (if you have suggestions) and we will need directions and our meeting place and time. Some of us plan on heading down Friday evening but I suspect a few will come Saturday morning.

We are thinking about a recon out to crystal beach but I know it is exactly as Skoal described it... I went out there right after the storm and didn't recognize the place. And I have been going there for years and years.. we would go there to get away from the crowd and BS rules (no driving on the beach) that they had on the island. It really is sad... and what they need is for folks to start going back.... spending money.... and getting the place back together but they have not even had time to get their infrastructure back up and running yet.. (sewer/water etc....) so it may be a little early to try and make a run there.

I say Mata this year and look at Crystal later on.

If we do end up at PINS, you Houstyon types cancrash at my parents house Friday and Saturday night. It's about an hour away, but the food will be free, AC, and a pool to cool off in LOL.

It doesn't matter what beach we go to. I am always interested at looking at girls in bikinis. So pick the beach with the hottest girls.

Keep in mind that the misses will only go if she has a hotel or a proper room to stay the night at. We are getting too old to do the camping stuff.

i am down for a jeep nation crystal beach weekend. but i am still down for a saturday PINS run for SA too!
