The condos were $220.00/night, right? how many nights in them? Still trying to figure out how many are tagging along with me.

I am pretty sure that they closed Lion's back. Heard that there were a couple of fatalities a few years ago.

The Lion's BackThe Lion's Back is a sandstone ridge in Moab, Utah that is very popular among 4x4'ers. The attraction and campground is now private property and no longer accessible by 4x4'ers.
[edit] The Climb The climb involves several hundred feet on a 25° - 65° slope, and then a 5 to 9-point turn-around at the top of the rock before slowly descending the same way up.
[edit] The Crash The hill is known for the crash in which a Chevy K-5 Blazer 4X4 lost its brakes and rolled down the hill, plunging 30 feet to the ground. Nobody died in the crash. The accident was caught on home video and has been featured on TV shows including Real TV, and Maximum Exposure. [1]

I would really like to try and make this happen... if we reserve one of the rooms can we put air mattresses down for the kiddos?
I will be flat towing for sure with the Mrs going... and I want to be able to wheel my chit like I stole it and not worry about not getting back home.

Are you not taking your trailer? And I am sure you can put some air mattresses in your room for the kids.

Not taking the RV, with the Jeep loaded in the back I would end up paying more in fuel than the condo would cost. I have access to a car hauler that is perfect for the Jeep and the truck doesn't even know it's back there.
I have my eye on a nice goose neck car hauler that I would love to purchase..... just don't have the jack for it right now.

you'd be fine. all he had to do was pay attention to his spotter. he was going a little fast and when his spotter was frantically waving for him to go right he kept going straight
& Matt, why'd you change your mind too?
Trust me guys, I'm nervous about going... but then again, don't we all hit trails that have a high pucker factor at least once every trip out? V-noches, loose rocky hill climbs at the edge of a drop off, off camber climbs? They all can end badly, but you take your time, listen to your spotters and use your head. There have been several times when I felt like someone kicked me in the nuts and thought I might puke in my air vents but I made it through
I'm deadset on going. I'm just figuring out if I take the family or go solo.

Honestly, I think this is a more advanced ride. And I'd rather those with more experience be able to enjoy it fully after such a long travel to get there.

No, I don't want to be "that guy" who makes everyone go too slow, or ride the "bunny trails" after such a long journey.

There will always be a rig built better or not as built as yours, it is what it is. Goldenboy rode his stock Sahara all over Katemcy and we didn't miss a beat.
I think that there is enough in Moab for all of us to have fun, no matter how our rigs are built.
Please don't hold back because you think you will hold someone back - if that someone wants to find a hard core group and have at it then let'em.

My biggest reason for not going is lack of funds. Most all my funds go to either school or the jeep.

If we (our group) were that hard core a wheelers, we wouldn't be in this group. Midnight Wheelers steps it up another level to us as does SAJE.
Any of the build up modded jeeps can have a break down on the trails and that will slow the whole trip down for everyone. Case in point with mine Heep at Hidden Falls. We stick together and we make sure we all come home.
We'll do more trips in this area before heading to Moab and that will give you time to build your confidence. I still shit my pants on some of the obstacles we run, that is why I like going out on the trails and get my fix again.

Matt,
From the pics I've seen, many stock rigs go to moab every year. some obstacles require bigger tires or lift or lockers. We look at the obstacles, decide if we want to do it, or take the bypass and watch others go. We will have a few days of wheeling and plan out our trails in advanced. I figure there will be at least one day when the more adventurous will visit the harder trails and the others will either take different trails or hop in someones rig for the ride. Don't not go because you think there won't be anything for you. I also figured some would go to the State Park for a day or two. I never invisioned everyone would stay together 100% of the time with so much to do and so many days there. Just food for thought.
Ray, I understand that brother. I'm looking thru my garage looking for stuff that's sitting on shelves gathering dust that I can sell for some jeep $$ everyday.
