The wife and I are heading down Friday as well. Will probably leave Houston around 11ish.


There is a Motel 6 on SPID and Paul Jones.

Ok so who is still going to the beach and when is everybody in the houston area leaving? Jeepgirl08 and myself are talking of leaving Friday and heading down so if anybody else is thinking the same give us a post back. We are checking on rooms a little off the beach they are a cheaper than on the island.

I`ll be bringing my BBQ again as well as my EZ UP shelter and a tarp.

I'm now up to 80%, just double-checking with my last-minute vacation plans around the same time. I'll be camping, definitely camping. And fishing too. Just not bringing my kayak. =(

Once you get to the beach, and your tires hit sand, re-set your odometer. That way, you can be sure of the mileage, if not, you can just do the mile posts, as they are set every 5 miles, if the wind and tides have not knocked them down.
Steve is correct, the 4X4 sign is 5 miles down. Yarborough Pass is 15 miles down. The Pass is a road that leads over/thru the dunes back to the Laguna Madre. The Jetties are 60 miles down. You cant go any furhter than the jetties, unless your Jeep can swim.....

Here you go- follow the outlined route. Once you get to the end of the outlined route, you'll be at the beach. Take a right down the beach, I think the sign is at 5 mile mark (???) you can't miss it though

Not sure where Yarborough pass is (15 mile mark?), but maybe if the wind is blowing we can set up lunch at the laguna. Just a thought.

Claudina and I are leaving Crosby around 11am Friday morning. I took a vacation day......

We are going to hit the beach around 5:30am on Saturday. I like to get an early start on the morning bite, LOL. Looks like there is only going to be one tide that day, and its an early high tide, and I want to be at the jetties while the water is still moving. Just hope the beach driving is not bad. If everyone wants to meet at Yarborough Pass for lunch, like we did last time, we will be there.
As for dinner on Saturday, we are open for anything. Depending on the fishing on Saturday, we might or might not fish on Sunday. But we are definately up for a big breakfast Sunday morning....

We'll be heading down Saturday morning (too many expenses these next 2 months to get a hotel room for 2 nights )

No way we'll be able to get to the sign by 10... So I guess we'll just meet y'all out on the beach.

Anyone from the Houston crew that wants to travel down with us Saturday morning let me know.
