| Glynda and I are in the probably category we were there mid march and beach was pretty torn up. It was a rough and slow ride, but they have held the annual beach cleanup since then, so will be less debris i think. | |

| Went to PINS on Saturday. When we got to the park entrance the sign said Driving = rough, Yarborough Pass = impassible. Impassible MY ASS!!!! It was a good climb in that powder sand shit but that's why we drive Jeeps to begin with. Anyway, got up to the pass and what is there......3 Jeeps! Fishing sucked so we decided to take a beach cruise instead. Got out about 34 miles down and found a good gut to fish in. All in all, it was a great Saturday. Fish tally : 2 reds, 1 trout, 2 pompano, and 52 whiting. Can't wait for this Jeep run though, I have never been all the way to the end. | |

| Saturday we took the TJ 24 miles down and did some shell hunting. Tide was out and conditions were very good. Only had 1 area where we drove in deep stuff for about 1/2 mile. We are going to try to make this trip, but won't know until last minute. | |

| That's too bad. I am going to see Willie Nelson on the 6th. I've never been down past 10 miles (minimal off road experience here). I'd like to do somehting like that with a group. I'll have to wait for the THIRD annual trip!!

| Cool. I must have misunderstood then. I thought people were heading down Friday, staying down island, and not coming back until Sat/Sun. If there's multiple trips, I will definately try to meet up on Saturday. | |

| Here is the plans I have so far.
Meet at Malaquite parking lot between 7 & 8 am on Friday the 6th. We will air down and prepare to leave hopefully by 8am. High tide is at 0724 hrs that morning however the low tide is at 1325 hours and is only 4 inches lower then high tide, so leaving any later would only hurt us on time. I think driving in as much cooler weather as possible would help us more. Pace will be within the speed limits on the beach, and what conditions will allow. I was there last weekend and the conditions still looked poor. We will make as many stops as necessary to let the jeeps cool down. We will be on CB channel 4 during the trip.
Scheduled stops will be at Big Shell around the 22 mile mark, and Angel Wing at the 38 mile mark.
We went half way a couple of months ago and though conditions were horible at best, we made it with ease. Conditions change daily on PINS so there is a chance it wont be possible to make it.
When we went last year i made it there and back on 10 gallons of gas. When we went a couple of months ago, it took me 15 gallons to make it half way and back. So be sure to pack plenty of fuel for the worse case. I generally carry 10 to 15 gallons of fuel and 10 gallons of water.
On Sunday I think we can leave around noonish and have plenty of time to get back before evening. We can adjust this time as needed after we make the trip down and see how good or bad the conditions are.
If anyone has any additions or objections to this, post up. This is just a rough draft that can be modified as needed to acomodate the participants. I will post up a list of supplies I have generated by the few that have made this trip several times, as well as a current list of participants later today hopefully.

| In a Jeep, it is always possible to make it to the pass and back, even under horrible conditions. Gas will be the limiting factor, bring extra. I really hope that we can make this trip! It is an adventure! | |

| We will be bringing the j10. The problem is the last two times we brought down it over heated as soon as it saw sand. I have done more repairs on it and we will be getting here early on the 5th and will test it out all day. depending on how it does will depend on if we take it on the run or not. it will be a last minute decision though. if we take it we will have some room to haul extra stuff.
I can also bring my trailer with us. If I remember correctly Raul made it to the end last year in 2wd pulling his trailer however the conditions were perfect last year too. I took my trailer on the run a couple of months ago loaded down with equipment for two families and got stuck twice down and twice back in 4wd. but like I've said those conditions were the worst I've ever seen down there.
if ya'll need me to I will bring the trailer but will probably get stuck a couple of times if conditions don't improve much. But it will provide an abundance of extra space to haul extra gear.
