| This was Raul's (r_unda) idea while we were on PINS last weekend. I'm getting the thread started to see if there is enough interest. We discussed a group ride down PINS to Mansfield Pass, then camp over night. This would be the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd. There are flat areas (the last time we were there anyway) above the high water line along the pass that would be good for camping. There are picnic tables at the base of the jetty as well. It is right at 60 miles of beach to get there. We have done it several times but the tides need to be on your side to get there faster. High tide on the 2nd is at 0700, so the tide will be going out as we drive down. On the 3rd it is at 0720 so again, it will be on it's way out as we drive back. There is excellent fishing and shell hunting down that far as well. If this works out my wife will drive the TJ and I will drive our F350 and bring a smoker to cook up some BBQ. I can also haul extra fuel and water for those that don't have the room. If I haul your beer for you, I can't guarantee it's safety. I'll post a few pics from there as soon as I find them on my puter. Any thoughts or comments? Anyone want to commit at this point? And thanks Raul for a great idea! We really like this run down the beach. | |

| Here is the GPS upon arriving at the pass on one of our trips. And I don't care who says different, I was NOT driving the TJ at 246 mph! The TJ by the jetty at the pass. A shot down the pass. | |

| We dicussed a run down to Port A at the Meet'n'Greet in SA this past Friday. I think we're making a run Mid to Late June. Acutally, I'm about to post a poll for it. | |

The idea of this trip is to go to Mansfield Pass and camp there not Port Aransas. Why drive 60 miles through soft sand with the possibility of getting stuck just to go to the beach? Because we can! Our jeep lets us go where most vehicles can’t! Seriously I like to enjoy nature, I like going to the beach but by going to Port A or even the first ten miles of PINS I really can’t enjoy it at its full and relax. Its just way to crowded and horrible for camping. From another forum regarding the trip down to Mansfield Pass: “It's a trip that'll stay with you for a long time. I totally had a mind reset and got out a lot of stress” I hope we can get more people going So far interested in the trip are: RichSATX GilL_AS r_unda | |

| Amen Raul! It is an awesome experience to get all the way down to the pass. The shells, the fishing, the "get away from it all" cannot be described in words. It is a trip, but like Raul said, it is a memory that will be with you forever. It's an accomplishment! | |

| Some more shots from the past on PINS. Doing some fishing on the way to the pass. A drift tree A rather large buoy. At about the 50 mile mark are the steam engines resting in the surf. It's from a steam ship that grounded back in the 20's. The rest rusted away. You will see boats fishing in the pass. This will be an expedition! | |

| I am a maybe. I like the idea of driving out to the middle of nowhere and camping. But being at the starting point at 0700 on Saturday is tough since I am coming from Houston. Someone mentioned picnic tables at the jetty. Is that were we end up and would be camping? Will there be porta-potties way out there? | |
