PostSubject: JK issues   JK issues Icon_minitimeTue 05 Aug 2008, 9:37 am

Guy's, I hope you are able to help me out.
My Jeep feels like the front axle is shifting. When I move from stand still it has a little shutter and I think it is coming from the tie rod or drag link. My steering wheel is a lot more off center, so that would probably explain the ESP BAS light to be on.
I tried tightening the tie rod some more, but it was very tight to begin with. Is it supposed to rock back and forth about 1/2 inch?

Any advice is appreciated.

check your steering gear for leakage (where the drag link connects to the pitman arm) also look at track bar bracket on the axle for cracks

I was thinking maybe your control arms are bent,or the mounts maybe cracked??? And my tie rod kinda pivots too. Also, your stock drag link has a very slight bow in it, so don't go and replace it like Jon did thinking he bent it.

Very Happy Sorry Jon

Jon may be correct though, cuz that trackbar bracket is know for breaking, and that might be just enough to give that little shudder.

we can fix the center issue on the steering wheel w/ 13mm or 15mm box wrench in about 2min. very easy to do.

OK, I know this is foreign to me, because I am Dutch. lol! However, I am not sure what the pitman arm looks like. Or the track bar bracket.

I do know that when I move the steering wheel from left to right, with the JK standing still, that I hear a little bump noice. However, I could never detect where it came from.
Adam or Jon, I might have to swing by your place and have you help me with this. You guy's seem to be more of an expert on this.
Or pictures would help too.

Thank you for the feedback.

If you wanted to bring the Jeep by my house considering that I am relatively close (Stone Oak area) we could look at it. Call me if you want 210.336.7613.

I stopped by Duke last night and it took him al but 30 seconds to figure out what was wrong.
The bushings in my lower control arms are wearing out. Had the lift on maybe 5 months, so I will put a call out to Full Traction.
Duke also helped me with my steering wheel.

Thanks for your help Duke.

Guy's, I am incredibly impressed with the customer service of Full Traction.

I sent an e-mail regarding the bushings @ 9.40AM this morning.
They responded with the following @ 9.47AM:

As a service to you, we will ship a complete new set of bushings at no charge. Please email to verify your address for shipping.

Best Regards,

I wnat to go 3" and 35's with 5:13s. Wallets bleeding right now but it will make for a couple good install parties.

BTW, anyone wanna buy a house. One owner, low miles, never wrecked.

The bushings came in today. Not bad, FT's CS impressed me so far.

Question? Do I just unbold the control arms and put in the new bushings? And regrease the controls arms.
Does the Jeep need to be lifted for that. I don't have a jack that is tall enough if that is the case.
