I hate to do this, but we now have a serious illness in the family. We will need to be here for the next couple of weeks minimum. We are going to have to bow out. We are crushed missing this trip! But this is one of those things where we have to do what we have to do. I will lend any support that I can from San Antonio as to our experiences on PINS.

WOW, THAT REALLY SUCKS. SORRY TO HEAR THAT. SO WHATS THE PLAN NOW, RAUL TAKING THE TORCH. IF SO LET ME KNOW WHAT WE HAVE TO DO TO KICK THIS OFF AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Ok here is what I have.

Total of 6 jeeps, 14 people, and 7 dogs going which is not bad at all. It’s going to be a great time guys.

I am going to try to collect some wood for a small fire. I don’t have that many so if you can bring fire wood it would be great.

Remember to bring tow strap, plenty of water and extra fuel. Also shade!! Check the complete list a few posts back

Time line (from Rich's briefing)
Saturday
8:30am - Meet at the parking lot of Malaquite visitor center (a few miles after the park entrance, its on your right, you will see it)
8:45am - Air down your tires - no lower than 12psi
9:00am - Head out down the beach
Scheduled stops will be at Big Shell around the 22 mile mark, Angel Wing at the 38 mile mark, and the wreck of the SS Nicaragua at 50 miles
Sunday
Start heading back to Corpus no later than mid afternoon. Probably stop at the same mile marks as we came in.

We will be on CB channel 14


As far as food goes this is my plan as an example but you are responsible for your own food and drinks:

Saturday
Breakfast: at home or at a taqueria
Lunch: whatever snacks I get (granola bars, chips and salsa, etc)
Dinner: hot dogs either on the fire or boiled on my propane stove. If everyone is happy with hot dogs I can buy them for everyone. Let me know

Sunday
Breakfast: Fruits, granola bars
Lunch: probably ham and cheese / peanut butter jelly sandwich

Jen and I will be there also, probably bringing a friend Wes (texaskid knows him) . I'm waiting on a new km2 to replace the one I cut the sidewalk on this past weekend at hidden falls. If it does not come in on time I may have to take one of the other trucks.

Raul, Cherokee Chief has downgraded to a maybe. He had some personal financial issues come up but he is still trying to make it work. I will know for sure Thursday of Firday as to weather he can make it or not.

I also welcome the rain.. and a weekend under 100 would be nice..

And RichSatx .. What time and where do u want to hook up in SA on Friday? I was planning on passin through there before lunchtime...

Yea.. I didn't see that till after I posted.. U can mark me to 1 person and 3 dogs...

Anything going on out there Friday night? If not I might just camp on the beach Friday night by the access road .. Does the visitor center have showers?

Walmart has a portable magnetic one. Works good its what I use til I get mine fixed. Anyway its under $20.

thanks, checked all the electronic stores and they no longer carry them. Didnt imagine wal mart would have them but i guess you can never doubt good ol wally world
