| We will all be fine on tires as long as they stay aired up. gas will be the issue. I will have a little extra in case someone runs low. again it will behind on the conditions. we may make it there and back on one tank if the conditions are good. we may not make it to the end on gas if the conditions are bad. I strongly suggest at least ten extra gallons. I am bringing 20 just based on the fact it took me one tank to get half way and back a couple of months back. | |

| Don't know if any of ya'll are planning to, but overheating tends to be an issue for those who dun their ac. I suggest everyone remove their doors and run without ac to prevent any overheating.
the closer we get things start popping in my head from prior experiences. My wife and I have been making many runs down the beach for many years, primarily south padre island. I don't know how many of ya'll are new at this but I want to ensure everyone is prepared. I will post things sporadically as I think of them. and againseveral of ya'll have done so, but if anyone has any questions please feel free to call me. if I don't have an answer for you I will know who does. this can be a easy fun trip but it can also be an adventure. r_unda will be going with us and has quite a bit of experience on PINS. RICHSATX is gonna try to make it, if so he will be the expert in the group as he and his wife have made this trip many times.

| Is overheating an issue for all Jeeps or just the older ones?? I have never run anything like this in sand before. | |

| I have an old jeep without air conditioning so I don't have that problem. The ones I've been with that have over heated have been newer, early 2000 models. Just an observation. be sure you have plenty of water just in case. | |

| The 2011's and 2012's have a stock tranny cooler built in to the a/c condenser so running the a/c won't hurt anything. | |

If you have the time before the trip - installing an aftermarket tranny cooler (amazon.com like $60) will also solve the overheating issue. And I also have an extra tent if ya need to borrow one.

x2....with this heat we are dealing with lately it WILL be an issue. I recommend everyone check their fluid levels and top off before heading out and then again before heading back.

Just a note - you can get the tranny coolers from your local parts store (O'Reilly's, AutoZone, etc). My 2008 jeep has Hayden Ultra Cool (I believe, it's the 404). Had to go smaller for the intercooler up front. It took less than an hour to install. **Well it took my boyfriend (mechanic) less than an hour to do**

| Yep be on the safe side and check your rig before you go. Tam and I make many trips down to the P.I.N.S. (just short of the end) and if you think you need it bring it! I know I will have enough stuff to supply atleast 4 jeeps. Shakedown seen how I can pack a jeep.
